Insanity Fit Test Results #2

As promised here’s my update after my 2nd fit test! This is right where I quit the first time I tried Insanity and trust me I’m sticking it through this time. I’ve been pushing hard so I could really see some improvement on my numbers and I’m happy to report an uptick across the board. Check it out: Results Workout Day 1 Day 15 % Change Switch Kicks 87 115 +32% Power Jacks 47 64 +36% Power Knees 85 101 +19% Power Jumps 18 39  +116% Globe Jumps 6 9 +50% Suicide Jumps 10 13 +30% Push-Up Jacks 15 23 +53% Low Plank Oblique 23 43 +87% I’m pumped to push hard so I can beat these numbers on my Fit Test #3.   Updates Vince my colleague and fellow Tough Mudder has officially started his 60-day challenge and you can keep track of his progress here. Also, his stats for his first fit test:     Workout Day 1 Day 15 Day 36 Day 50 Day 63 Switch Kicks 60 Power Jacks 34 Power Knees 70 Power Jumps 20 Globe Jumps 07 Suicide Jumps 13 Push-Up Jacks 23 Low Plank Oblique 36 Good job Vince, you definitely look better than me! For now… 🙂   Current Stats As of today I’ve done 17 workouts and they’re still hard as hell but I’m able to push harder without that familiar feeling of wanting to puke. Yesterday pushed through “Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs” and I definitely feel it right now.  Here’s a breakdown of the workouts since I started. Fit Test x2 Plyometric Cardio Circuit x4 Cardio Power & Resistance x3 Cardio Recovery x2 Pure Cardio x4 Cardio Abs x2 (same day as Pure Cardio) No lost weight yet but I’ve been melting fat like butter! The most obvious are my chest and oblique’s. My legs didn’t have any fat to begin with so I’m starting to look like a pro soccer player. Tonight is “Cardio Recovery” and tomorrow it’s time to jump back into “Cardio Power & Resistance” How’s it feel? Overall I’m feeling amazing, especially right after the workout. Usually get a 2 or 3 hour rush and it slowly mellows throughout the rest of the day. Missed one workout last week so I made it up the next day cramming two session in (one in the morning and one at night) and I was on cloud 9 for a bit… not so much the next day though. Started working out at night regularly this week and I have no problem falling asleep and getting a full 8 in. Looking forward to the recovery session tonight to...

Insanity Fitness at Work!

It’s official, after a co-worker started talking about buying the Insanity fitness program I decided to dust off the old DVD’s and give it a second shot. I’m recruiting c0-workers to help keep me in check and so far it’s up to 3! I tried going through the program about 2 years ago and it kicked my @$$ and even worse I didn’t finish it which left me feeling pretty bad. Why am I doing this? I’m in a pretty bad place physically right now with regards to my fitness. I want to increase my performance in both life and work. Up until a few years ago I maintained myself by playing soccer and skateboarding almost everyday of the week. Now my only exercise is a 20-30 minute jog once or twice a week. Everyone knows that’s not enough and I’ll swallow my pride and show you a pretty sad picture of my “unfit” self:   These are my stats: Stats Current Goal Actual Height 5'6" n/a Weight 153.6 140 BMI 24.8 < 22.5 Mile Minute >10.5 <8 Why I Failed I saw results but I didn’t have anyone to hold me accountable so I slipped and after sometime I really started getting scared of going through that first week again. This time around I knew my weakness and found some support at work. Two colleagues are on-board and I’ll be tracking both their progress and mine.   Vince – ToughMudder team member (Started his challenge Dec 2nd) Fit Test Results Here Ashley – aka Charkoehl (Starting over due to holiday interruptions) Any other takers?? (If you’re interested let me know and I’ll be glad to add your stats to the final summary… just leave a comment below)   On top of that I’ll be posting my Fit Test Results every other week and my friends and family can hold me accountable. I do really well with negative reinforcement for some reason so feel free to give me a kick in the button on that comments section below.   My Insanity Workout Diet I’ll be using MyFitnessPal to track my progress. In addition, this Insanity Nutrition Guide was referred to me by a friend and I’ll be using this to guide my daily intake. Based on Coach Todd’s guide I’ll be at the “Very Active” level which means 6 to 7 workouts per week:     Using the Harris Benedict equation and activity factor I’ll need to eat approximately 2,817 calories just to maintain my weight. For weight loss it’s recommended that I eat 500 under so my required intake will be 2,317 calories/day. Here’s the breakdown for your reference: Step 1:...
